The Elder Law Practice of Douglas R. Jones & Cynthia Orlicek Jones practices law only in the areas of Estate Planning, Elder Law and Special Needs Law. We have been in business since 1985, helping Arkansas families plan their estates.

ESTATE PLANNING - Having practiced in this area of the law for many years, we see many people who die with no estate plan in place. Many of these families have to pay unnecessary legal fees and court costs and have their estates tied up in probate court for months. Additionally, many have to pay substantial amounts in federal estate taxes, all of which could often be avoided with some basic estate planning. To request a FREE Report containing some ideas on ways that your family can avoid unnecessary costs and hassle at your death, click on the Contact Us button to the left.

ELDER LAW - One of the biggest risks that Seniors face today is losing a chunk of their estate to expenses of Long Term Care. We know that we will die someday - the odds are 100%. However, we rarely consider that the odds are also substantial that we will become incapacitated before we die and will have to pay a large portion of our estate for long term care expenses. Most people would like to pass a large portion of their hard earned estate to their children or loved ones. With proper planning, this is often possible. To request a FREE Report that contains some tips as to how you can pass assets to loved ones, instead of the nursing home, click on the Contact Us button to the left.

SPECIAL NEEDS - Many families who have incapacitated children at home or in some facility are so busy caring for their children that they don't have time or energy to gather information concerning their legal options. The law has carved out specific options available to incapacitated persons. Unfortunately however, most people with special needs children do not avail themselves of these options because they don't know about them. Failure to plan carefully for individuals with special needs can often have a devistating financial and life-style impact on the disabled individual. ADMINISTRATION AT DEATH - After someone dies, the family is often lost. Where do we go? What do we do first? Who can help? Some people just start distributing assets without seeking proper legal advice from a qualified estate planning attorney. Often such hasty actions can result in adverse tax consequences. After the death of a person, certain legal actions often need to take place BEFORE any distributions of property, money or other assets. If you have recently experienced the death of a loved one, get the facts BEFORE you act. To request a FREE Report on Planning after the death of a loved one, click on the Contact Us button to the left.

GUARDIANSHIP - With proper planning, this legal procedure that requires Court involvement can often be avoided. However, sometimes stroke, Alzheimer's or a severe physical disability sneaks up on a person before they had a chance to prepare properly. When this happens, the well spouse or an adult child often has to ask the Court to be appointed as the legal Guardian of the now disabled person, so that their legal affairs can be handed. If you have suddenly found yourself in this role and don't know where to turn, ask for our FREE Report on Guardianship by clicking on the Contact Us button to the left.

One of our missions at The Elder Law Practice of Douglas R. Jones & Cynthia Orlicek Jones is to inform our client - the more you know, the better.
